53-year-old former MLB outfielder dies

The terrible news that former MLB outfielder Lee Tinsley had passed away at the age of 53 shocked the baseball community on Thursday morning.

It is unknown what caused the death.The former outfielder played in the Major Leagues for five seasons.

In 1993, Tinsley made his major league debut with the Seattle Mariners at the age of 24.

Before being transferred to the Philadelphia Phillies and eventually the Mariners, the outfielder spent a portion of three seasons with the Boston Red Sox.

Bob Nightengale, a notable MLB insider for USA Today, tweeted the tragic news of Tinsley's passing.1995 with the Red Sox was Tinsley's best season.

He played in 100 games that season, hitting.284 for the year with seven home runs and 41 RBI, a career high.

Tinsley had a career WAR of 1.7 throughout the course of his five seasons in Major League Baseball.

He hit 13 home runs throughout the course of his career, scored 79 runs, and had a lifetime batting average of.241.
